The denominator of a fraction is greater than its numerator by 12. If the numerator is increased by 15 and the denominator decreased by 5, then the number obtained is 4/3. Find the fraction.

Let the numerator of the fraction =x

Then denominator=12+x

So, fraction will be

12+xx

New fraction:

numerator =x-2

denominator=12+x+7

=19+x

So, fraction will be

19+xx−2

19+xx−2=212(x−2)=19+x2x−x=19+4x=23

So, old fraction is

12+2323=3523

and new fraction is,

19+2323−2=4221=21
