Answer:

Let the numerator of a rational be x

Therefore, denominator = x + 8

according to the question,

x + 17 = 3

x + 8 - 1 2

or, x + 17 = 3

x + 7 2

Cross multiplication gives

3 (x+7) = 2 (x+17)

or, 3x + 27 = 2x + 34

or, 3x - 2x = 34 - 27

or, x = 13

Therefore, Numerator = x = 13

& Denominator = x+8 = 13+ 8 = 21

so, Rational number = 13/21.

Answer: 13/21

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numerator be x.

According to the question

x+17/x+8-1 = 3/2

x+17/x+7 =3/2

2(x+17) = 3(x+7). ( cross multiplication)

2x+34 = 3x+21

34-21 = 3x-2x

13=x

So the fraction is : 13/21

Hope it helps.........
