let the numerator be x . then
denominator = x+4
original fraction = x/(x+4)
now
new numerator = x +5
new denominator = x+4+5
=x+9
new fraction = (x+5)/(x+9)
given
(x+5)/(x+9) = 2/3
by cross multiplication we get ,
⇒3(x+5) = 2(x+9)
⇒3x + 15 = 2x +18
⇒3x - 2x = 18 - 15
⇒x = 3
∴original fraction = 3/(3+4)
=3/7
