Let the fraction be x/y.

Acc. to the question

y = x + 3

Therefore , the fraction = x / y = x / (x+3)

( x + 7) / (x+3) = x/y + 1

( x + 7) / (x+3) = x/(x+3) + 1

( x + 7) / (x+3) = x/(x+3) + (x+3)/(x+3)

[ Multiply the whole equation be (x+3)]

x +7 = x + x + 3

x + 7 = 2x + 3

2x - x = 7- 3

x = 2

Fraction = x/y

= x /(x +3)

= 2/(2+3)

= 2/5

Ans. = The fraction is 2/5.
