Let the numerator be x then denominator will be (x + 8).

According to the question,(x+8−1)(x+17) = 23

⇒ (x+7)(x+17) = 23

⇒ 2(x + 17) = 3(x + 7)⇒ 2x + 34 = 3x + 21

⇒ 34 - 21 = 3x - 2x⇒ 13 = xThe rational number is \frac{x}{x+8}=\frac{13}{21} x x+8 = 21 13
