Answer:

let numerator be x

∴the denominator will be x+8

⇒x+17/x+8-1=3/2

⇒x+17/x+7=3/2

⇒2(x+17)=3(x+7)

⇒2x+34=3x+21

⇒34-21=3x-2x

⇒13=x

∴x/x+8

=13/21 (Ans )

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the numerator x----- (1)

if denominator is increased by 8 then,

denominator = x+8----(2)

if numerator is increased by 17 then,

numerator = x+17    (from 1)-----(3)

now, denominator is decreased by 1 then,

denominator = x+8-1 = x+7---(4)

from eq. 3 and 4

we have,

x+17 / x+7 = 3/2

on solving we get

3x + 21 = 2x + 34 = 3/2

x = 13

from 1 and 2

numerator = 13

denominator = 13 + 8 =21

rational no = 13/21

hope it will help you  :-)
