Let the numerator be x.

Then the denominator be x + 8.

Fraction = x/x + 8.  ----- (1)

Given that x + 17/x+ 8 -1 = 3/2

                  x + 17/x + 7 = 3/2

                  2x + 34 = 3x + 21

                  x = 13.

 Substitute in (1), we get

Fraction = 13/21.

Hope this helps!

let the equation be like

x/x+8
x+17/x+8-1=3/2
x+17/x+7=3/2
2(x+17)=3(x+7)
2x+34=3x+21
2x-3x=21-34
-x=-13
x=13

n=13
d=13+8=21

13/21 is the ans

hope u got it
thanks
