There is a mistake in the que.
It must be denominator is 8 greater than its numerator(not number).
So,Let num. be X
And let denominator be Y
So,y=x+8..........
Moreover
X+17/y-1=3/2
Putting value of the y=x+8 here
We will get
X+17/X+8-1=3/2
X+17/X+7=3/2
By cross multiplication
2x+34=3x+21
So X=13 and y=X+8=21
So fraction=X/y=13/21
