The denominator of a rational number is greater than its numerator by 3. If the numerator and denominator are increased by 1 and 4 respectively, the number obtained is 1 /2 . Find the rational number.

let the numerator be x then the rational no. formed is
x  \div x + 3
Now, increase x by 1 = x+1
and increase x+3 by 4 = x+7

now put the value given to increased data
ie. x+1/x+7 = 1/2

and get x=5
