The denominator of a rational number is greater than its numerator by 3. If 3 is subtracted from the numerator and 2 is added to its denominator, the new number becomes 15 . find the original number.

Let, the numerator of rational fraction be x

∴ the denomiantor =x+3

A.T.Q,

x+3+2

x−3

=

x+5

x−3

=

⟹5x−15=x+5

⟹5x−x=5+15

⟹4x=20

⟹x=

=5

∴ The original rational fraction is

5/ 5+3
