let, the numerater of rational number be x

then, the denominator of rational number be (x+4)

a/q,

x+2/x+4-1 = 7/8

or, x+2/x+3 = 7/8

or, 8x+16 = 7x+21

or, 8x-7x = 21-16

or, x = 5

now, rational number = 5/9 ans.
