The denominator of a rational number it is greater than its numerator by 8. If the numerator is increased by 17 and denominator is decreased by 1 the number obtained is 3/2. Find the rational number​

Answer:

Let take the numerator as n

so denominator = n+8

numerator is increased by 17 = n+17

denominator decreased by 1 = n+8-1 = n+7

n+17/n+7 = 3/2

by cross multiplication

2(n+17) = 3(n+7)

2n+34 = 3n+27

n = 13

Hence, numerator = 13

            denominator = n+8 = 13+8 = 21

so the no. will be = 13/21
