the denominator of fraction is more than twice its numerator.denominator becomes 12 times the numerator if both the numerator and the denominator are reduced by 6. find the fraction.

Let the fraction is x / y

y = 2x eq1

12 (x- 6) = y - 6

12x - 72 = y - 6

put y = 2x from eq1

12x - 72 = 2x - 6

10x = -6 + 72

10x = 66

x = 66/10

put x in eq 1

y = 2x

y = 2 × 66/10 = 132/10


Fraction is x / y

( 66/10) / (132/10) = 66 / 132 = 1/2


Fraction wil be 1 / 2
