The denominator of a fraction is one less than twice the numerator. If seven is added to both the numerator and the denominator, the resulting fraction has a value of seven-tenths. Find the original fraction.

-------------------

Let the numerator be "x".

The the denominator is "2x-1".

------------------------------------

Equation:

(x+7/(2x-1+7) = 7/10

Cross multiply to get:

10(x+7) = 7(2x+6)

10x + 70 = 14x+42

4x = 28

x = 7

2x-1 = 13

---------------------

Ans. The original fraction is 7/13
