Let the numerator = x

& Denominator = x + 8

Fraction = x/x+8

By Question,

x+1/x+8 = 1/4

4(x+1) = 1(x+8)

4x + 4 = x + 8

4x-x = 8-4

3x = 4

∴ x = 4/3

Now, putting the value of x in orginal fraction.

⇒ x/x+8

⇒ 4/3/4/3+8

⇒ 4/3 × 3/28

⇒1/7

Hence, the fraction = 1/7
