Answer:

The rational number =13/21

Step-by-step explanation:

Let numerator =x

then denominator=x+8

Then no=x/(x+8)

If numerator is increased by 17 and denominator is decreased by 1 then

numerator =x+17

then denominator=x+8-1=x+7

Then no=(x+17)/(x+7)=3/2 (given)

2*(x+17)=3*(x+7) ( by cross multiplication)

3x+21=2x+34

3x-2x=34-21

x=13

So numerator=x=13

denominator =x+8=13+8=21

Hence the rational number =13/21
