the fraction becomes

Now 5 is added to both parts
which makes
the numerator
x+5
and the denominator
x+3+5

thus
x+5/x+8=4/5
By cross multiplication
5x+25=4x+32
x=7
thus,
The original fraction is 7/7+3=7/10
