Answer:

Density, mass of a unit volume of a material substance. The formula for density is d = M/V, where d is density, M is mass, and V is volume.

Step-by-step explanation:

Density Formula

To find mass from density, you need the equation Density= Mass ÷ Volume or D= M÷V. The proper SI units for density are g/cubic cm (grams per cubic centimeters), alternately expressed as kg/cubic m (kilograms per cubic meters).The fluid displaced has a weight W = mg, where g is acceleration due to gravity. Therefore, the weight of the displaced fluid can be expressed as W = ρVg. The weight of an object or substance can be measured by floating a sufficiently buoyant receptacle in the cylinder and noting the water level.

Given:

The density d of a substance is given by the formula d=mV, where m is its mass and V is its volume

(a) Find m

We know that d=mV

For solving to find the value of m

here m=d/V

(b) Find mass of the pyrite sample

Given that d=5.01kg/cm³

and V=1.2cm³

put the value in formula

m=\frac{5.01}{1.2}

m=4.175

Hence the value of mass is 4.175 cm³
