Coefficient of volume expansion  = α = [{Δρ / ρ1 ΔT}] = [{ρ1 – ρ2} / {ρ1(T2 – T1)}] ∴ α = [{10 – 9.7} / {10(100 – 0)}] = (0.3 /1000) = 3 × 10–4  ∴ Coefficient of linear expansion = (α/3) = [{3 × 10–4} / 3] = 10–4
