Given info : The density of helium in a balloon is 1.18 g/L. the balloon holds 2.89L of He.
To find : the number of atoms of He are in the balloon is ...
solution : mass of He in the balloon = density of the He × volume of balloon.
= 1.18 g/L × 2.89 L
= 3.4102 g
no of moles of He = given mass of He/atomic mass of He
= 3.4102g/4g/mol = 0.85255 mol
now the no of atoms of He in the balloon = no of moles of He × Avogadro's number
= 0.85255 × 6.023 × 10²³
= 5.135 × 10²³
therefore the number of Helium atoms in the balloon is 5.135 × 10²³.
