Answer:

China and India are the two most populous countries in the world, with China home to about 1.44 billion people and India to 1.38 billion in 2020. China and India together account for about 36% of total world population and 67% of Asia population.

As of 2020, population of China is 59 million more than India. Due to higher population growth rate of India, margin between these two country is coming down quickly. And by 2027, India will have more people than China with approximately 1.47 billion people. Currently, China's population growth rate is only 0.39%, while India's population is growing at 0.99%. China had crossed one billion milestone in 1980 and India in 1997. Population of China and India will peak in 2031 and 2059, respectively.

Answer:

This is because China's land area is larger than India's. There are many places such as the Gobi desert and mountains where there is very less population in China. Most of China's population is concentrated in the eastern part of the country, where the fertile soil and flat land makes it suitable for agriculture and building apartments and houses. Also, the eastern part of China faces the sea so ports can be built there. India also has deserts such as the Thar Desert, but it is one of the most populated deserts in the world, and it only covers a small area (e.i in comparison to the Gobi Desert, which takes up a huge chunk of China). China also has the world's highest number of variations in elevation, and of course we all know that less people live in the mountains because of the cold climate. Because of the above listed reasons, China has less population density than India, even though it's population is bigger.
