The density of water is maximum at 4° C because, it is a condition in which by increasing or decreasing the density of the water decreases. With the risen up the temperature of the surface of the water increases so, the density decreases. With the decrease in temperature after 4°C the density of water decreases because, ice s less denser than the water and after 4°C the water molecules start bonding with each other for the formation of ice.
