Given : The depreciation charged on a car is 20% per annum for the first 3 years and 25% per annum for the  next 3 years.

present value is Rs 4,00,000

To Find : What will be the value of the car after 6 years

Solution:

Present value is Rs 4,00,000

The depreciation charged on a car is 20% per annum for the first 3 years

Price After 3 Years =  4,00,000 ( 1  - 20/100)³

=  4,00,000 ( 8/10)³

=  4,00,000 ( 512/1000)

= 400 x 512

=2,04,800

The depreciation charged on a car is 25% per annum for the next 3 years

Price After 3+ 3 = 6 Years = 2,04,800 ( 1  - 25/100)³

=  2,04,800 ( 3/4)³

= 2,04,800 ( 27/64)

= 3200 * 27

= 86400

value of the car after 6 years = Rs 86400
