The side BC is 240m.

Given:

The diagonal and one side of the rectangular field are 289 mtrs. and 161 meters respectively.

To Find:

The other side.

Solution:

To find the side of the rectangle we will follow the following steps:

Let ABCD is the rectangle and be the diagonal = 289m

And,

AB = 161 meters

BC =?

Now,

Using Pythagoras' theorem,

 {AC}^{2}  = {AB}^{2}  +  {BC}^{2}

Now,

In putting values we get,

 {289}^{2}  =  {161}^{2}  + {BC}^{2}

83521 = 25921 + {BC}^{2}

{BC}^{2} = 83521-25921 = 57600

BC =  \sqrt{57600}  =  240m

Henceforth, the side BC is 240m.
