Therefore the total area of the parallelogram is =10.5 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the diagonal BD of a parallelogram ABCD is 4.2cm long . the perpendicular distance from this diagonal to each of the vertices A and C is 2.5 cm.

The diagonal cut the parallelogram into two equal triangle whose base is 2.5 cm and height is 4.2 cm.

Therefore the area of the triangle is  =\frac{1}{2} \times base \times height

                                                             =\frac{1}{2} \times 4.2 \times 2.5   cm²

                                                            =5.25 cm²

Therefore the total area of the parallelogram is (2×5.25)cm² =10.5cm²
