The diagonal of a quadrilateral shaped field is 24m and perpendiculars dropped
on it from the remaining opposite vertices are 6m and 12m. Find the area of the
field.

Area of the field

= Area of upper triangle + Area of Lower triangle

=21×13×24+21×8×24

=156+96=252 sq m

divide the quadrilateral into two triangles from its diagonal

area of 1st triangle=1/2×b×h

=1/2×24×6

=72m²

area of 2nd triangle= 1/2×b×h

=1/2×24×12

=144m²

area of quadrilateral=72+144=216m²
