Let's consider,

ABCD as the quadrilateral shaped field

BD is the diagonal of the quadrilateral

AM ⊥ BD is drawn from the vertex A

CN ⊥ BD is drawn from the vertex C

The length of AM = 16 m

The length of CN = 26 m

The length of BD = 48 m

Therefore, referring to the figure, we get

The area of quadrilateral ABCD is,

= Area(Δ ABD) + Area (Δ BCD)

= [\frac{1}{2} \times AM \times BD] + [\frac{1}{2} \times CN \times BD]

= [\frac{1}{2} \times 16 \times 48] + [\frac{1}{2} \times 26 \times 48]

= [8 \times 48] + [13 \times  48]

= 384 + 624
