The diagonal of a rectangle is thrice its smaller
side. The ratio of the length to the breadth of
the rectangle is:

Let diagonal =3a

Smaller side =a

Use Pythagorous theorem

Al2=b2-hyp2

Al2=(3a)2-a2

=9a2-a2

=8a2

=2root2

Therefore the ratio =2root2:1
