(16+x)^2=(14+x)^2+x^2
256+32x+x^2=196+28x+x^2+x^2
60+4x-x^2=0
60+10x-6x-x^2=0
10(6+x)-x(6+x)=0
(6+x)(10-x)=0
x=-6
x=10
shorter side is 10
longer side is 24
