let AB =x
BC = x
so by phythagorean theorm
AB^2 + BC^2,= 4^2
2 AB^2= 16
AB^2 = 8
AB = √8
AB = 2 √2

let side of square be x
diagonal =4cm
In square each angle is 90°
triangle is formed
on that triangle by using pythagorean theorm
H2=B2+P2
(4)2=(x)2+(x)2
16=2(x)2
8=x2
x=√8
x=2√2
thus side of square is 2√2cm or 2.83 cm.
