The length of the diagonal of a square with sides 7 cm long is equal to the length of the hypotenuse of an isosceles right triangle (45–45–90 triangle) with legs 7 cm long. In a 45–45–90 right triangle, the length of the hypotenuse is sqrt(2) times the length of a leg, so the diagonal of the square is 7sqrt(2) cm long.
