The diagonal of a trapezium ABCD with ab parallel to DC intersect at o if ab = 2 CD
Answers
Given : Diagonals of a trapezium ABCD with AB || DC intersect each other at the point O. If AB = 2 CD,
To Find : the ratio of the areas of triangles AOB and COD.
Solution:
AB ║ CD
∠OCD = ∠OAB ( alternate angle )
∠ODC = ∠OAB ( alternate angle )
∠COD = ∠AOB ( vertically opposite angle )
ΔCOD ≈ ΔAOB
Ratio of area of similar triangle = ( ratio of corresponding side )²
Area of Δ AOB / Area of Δ COD = ( AB/CD)²
=> Area of Δ AOB / Area of Δ COD = ( 2CD/CD)²
=> Area of Δ AOB / Area of Δ COD = ( 2/1)²
=> Area of Δ AOB / Area of Δ COD = 4/1
=> Area of Δ AOB : Area of Δ COD = 4 : 1
