Given:

Diagonals of a rhombus = 12 cm, 16 cm

To find:

  1. Length of its 1 side
  2. It's perimeter

(Diagram is given in attachment)

Method:

1. We know that diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other and are perpendicular to each other.

Now,

In ∆AOB,

Applying Pythagoras theorem,

AB² = AO² + BO²

⇒AB² = 6² + 8²

⇒AB² = 36 + 64

⇒AB² = 100

⇒AB = 100

AB = 10 cm

  • Length of 1 side = 10 cm

2. We know that all sides are equal in rhombus.

∴ Perimeter = 4 × side

⇒Perimeter = 4 × 10

Perimeter = 40 cm

  • Therefore Perimeter = 40 cm
