Given the perimetre of rectangle is 72 m, we will first find its length and breadth in equation form-

2(l+b)= 72

( l+ b) = 36

On squaring both sides-

(l+b )^2 =36^2

l^2+b^2 + 2lb = 1296……………(1)

Now we know that each angle of a rectangle is a right angle and both of its diagonals are equal. So consider a rectangle ABCD . Now triangle ABC is a right triangle as angle B is aqual to 90′.

By pythogoras theoram-

AB^2 + BC^2 = AC^2

b^2 + l^2 = 18^2

b^2+ l^2 = 324……………(2)

On subtracting (1) from(2)-

2lb = 1296 - 324

Lb = 972 ÷2 = 486

Thus area of rectangle is 486 m^2
