The diagram below shows the map of a pentagonal park. Find the length of side ‘x’

Solution :-

Construction :- Join EB . and denotes all points .

using pythagoras theorem we get,

→ EB = √[CD² + (BC + DE)²]

→ EB = √[4² + (3 + 5)²]

→ EB = √(16 + 64)

→ EB = √80

then, in right angled ∆ABE again using pythagoras theorem we get,

→ AE = √[EB² - AB²]

→ x = √[(√80)² - 3²]

→ x = √(80 - 9)

→ x = 71 (Ans.)

[ Note :- since diagram is not to the scale , we can't take AB = where D cuts at AE . ]
