The Diagram shows a wedge ABCDEF. The base of the wedge is a horizontal rectangle measuring 60cm by 40cm. The slopping face ABEF makes an angle of 25 degrees to the horizontal. Calculate the length AF give your answer to 3 significant figures. Please help!

Given : a wedge ABCDEF. The base of the wedge is a horizontal rectangle measuring 60cm by 40cm. The slopping face ABEF makes an angle of 25 degrees to the horizontal.

To find : length AF

Solution :

Tan 25° =  CF/BC

=> 0.466 = CF/60

=> CF = 27.96

AF² = AC²  + CF²

AC² = 60² + 40² = 5200

CF² = 781.76

AF² =  5200 +  781.76

=> AF² =5981.76

=> AF = 77.3

length AF  = 77.3  cm

therefore
