Answer:

3x-5=19-x. (Because it is an isosceles triangle)

4x=24

x=6

Perimeter =3x-5+19-x+2x

=4x+14

=(4)(6)+14. (Because x=6)

=24+14

=38cm.

Perimeter of triangle is 38 cm

Given:

The diagram shows an isosceles triangle all the measurements are in cm

and (3x-5) (19-x) and 2x are sides

To find:

Perimeter of triangle

Solution:

Name the triangle as triangle ABC

From figure, we can conclude that ∠C and ∠B are equal angles

Then two equal sides of triangle are AC and AB

⇒  AC = AB

From figure, AC = (3x-5) and AB =  (19-x)

⇒ 3x - 5 = 19 - x

⇒ 3x + x = 19 + 5

⇒ 4x = 24

⇒ x = 6

Therefore each side of triangle are

AB = 19 - x = 19 - 6 = 13 cm

BC = 2x = 2(7) = 12 cm

AC = 3x - 5 = 3(6) - 5 = 18 - 5 = 13 cm

Therefore,

Perimeter of triangle = 13 cm + 13 cm + 12 cm = 38 cm

Perimeter of triangle = 38 cm
