the diameter of a circle is 50cm and the length of chord is 14cm.Calculate the distance of the chord from the center of the circle​

Diameter of given circle = 50.

radius of given circle= diameter / 2 = 50/2 = 25.

As we know that perpendicular drawn from center of circle to a chord, bisects the chord.

Distance from center to chord = 7 cm

7 cm length perpendicular from center to chord, it will bisect the chord.

and makes a right angle triangle.

By Pythagoras theorem,

length of half chord = √(25)^2 — 7^2 = 24

Length of chord = 2 x 24 = 48 cm
