Given:

  • The diameter of a circle is increasing at the rate of 0.4 cm/s.

To find:

  • The rate of increase of its circumference.

Solution:

Let the radius of a circle be r and C be the circumference of a circle.

C = 2πr

Where,

C is the circumference of a circle.

r is the radius of a circle.

Given that,

  • dr/dt = r
  • dr/dt = 0.4 cm/s

We can also wriw C as dC/dt

Putting the values,

  • dC/dt = 2 × π × 0.4
  • dC/dt = 0.8 π cm/s

If we take the value of π as 3.14

  • dC/dt = 2.512 cm/s

Rate of increase of its circumference = 2.512 cm/s
