Answer:

Distance travelled (in cm) = 88000cm

Distance travelled (in m) = 88000/100 = 880m

Distance travelled (in km) = 880/1000 = 0.88km

Step-by-step explanation:

Diameter of the wheel = 56cm

Radius of the wheel = 56/2 = 28cm

Circumference of the wheel = 2πr =

2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 28 \\ = 2 \times 22 \times 4 \\ = 176

Distance travelled in 500 revolutions = 176×500 = 88000cm

Distance travelled (in m) = 88000/100 = 880m

Distance travelled (in km) = 880/1000 = 0.88km

Given: diameter of a wheel is 56cm

To find: distance travelled by wheel in 500 revolutions

Solution:

when a wheel revolves, the perimeter of the wheel becomes the distance travelled by the wheel

So here we need to find perimeter of the wheel

Diameter of the wheel = 56cm,

perimeter of the wheel = 2πr ( since wheel is in round shape we will use circle formulas and here 'r ' is radius of the circle)

Radius (r) = diameter/ 2 = 56/2 = 28 cm

The wheel revolutions are 500

∴ 500× 2πr will be the distance travelled by the wheel

500× 2× 22/7 ×28

=88000cms

To convert cm in m and km divide the final answer by 100 and 1000 respectively

= 88000/ 100 m, 88000/ 1000km

=880m, 88km

Answer: distance travelled by wheel is 88000cm or 880m or 88km
