Given info : The diameter of the metal rod is 2.24 ± 0.01 cm.

To find : The percentage error in this measurement.

solution : percentage error = error in diameter /diameter length × 100

= 0.01/2.24 × 100

= 1/2.24

= 0.446 % ≈ 0.45 %

Therefore the percentage error in the diameter of metal rod is 0.45 %

[EXTRA Point : percentage error in base area of rod = 2 × percentage error in diameter

= 2 × 0.45 % = 0.9 % ]
