The diameter of the sun is several hundred times larger than than of moon but still at the time of solar eclipse the entire sun is covered by moon. Why??

the distance of the sun from the earth is 1000 times larger than the distance of the moon from earth. during solar eclipse, moon comes in between sun and earth. both the sun and moon subtend nearly equal angle at our eye. hence it is entirely covered.
