The common difference d is 5 for the given arithmetic sequence

Given,

The difference between the 12th and 8th term of an arithmetic sequence is 20

To Find,

Find the common difference

Solution,

Let the 12th term can be written as a+11d

Let the 8th term can be written as a+7d

The difference between the 12th term and 8th term is 20

we can write it as

(a+11d) - (a+7d) =20

a+11d-a-7d =20

while equating we can cut both a

then left  equation will be

11d-7d =20

4d=20

d= 20/4

d= 5

Here  'd' is the common difference that is 5

Hence common difference d is 5 for the given arithmetic sequence.
