Answer:

⇒ The amount of the bill 20000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

The difference between a discount of 50% and two successive discounts of 30% and 30% on a bill is Rs.200

here we need to find the initial amount

Let x be the total amount

discount of 50% of x = \frac{50}{100} (x) = \frac{1}{2} x

⇒ after 50%, bill = x - \frac{1}{2} x  = \frac{2x-x}{2} = \frac{x}{2}

 discount of 30 % of x = \frac{30 }{100} x = \frac{3x}{10}

⇒ after 30%, bill = x-\frac{3x}{10}  = \frac{10x - 3x}{10}  = \frac{7x}{10}

 discount of 30%  \frac{7x}{10} = \frac{30}{100} (\frac{7x}{10})  = \frac{21x}{100}

⇒ after 30%, bill = \frac{7x}{10} - \frac{21x}{100} =\frac{70x -21x }{100} = \frac{49x}{100}

⇒ from given data \frac{x}{2} - \frac{49x}{100} = 200

                              \frac{100x - 98x }{200} =200

                                2x = 40000

                                x = 20000

⇒ The amount of the bill 20000
