the two digits number should be written as

10x + y

x is in 10s place and y is in ones place

reversing the digits it becomes 10y + x

difference between the two is 27

(10x + y) - (10y + x) = 27

10x + y - 10y - x = 27

9x - 9y = 27

9(x - y) = 27

x - y = 27/9 = 3

x - y = 3

therefore the difference between the digits is 3
