Answers
Explanation:
Difference between ages of ravi and Geeta is 10 years
5 years earlier ravi was twice as old as geeta
Solution :-
Let the present age of Ravi be x and Geeta's age will be (x - 10) years.
Now
After 5 years
age of Ravi's = (x - 5) years
age of Geeta's age = 2(x - 10 - 5) years
(x - 5) = 2(x - 10 - 5)
x- 5 = 2x - 20 - 10
2x - x = 20 + 10 - 5
x = 20 + 5
x = 25

Explanation:
If you put A's age as 26 then B's age will be 23(because their total age given =49). Then A's age in the past will be 23 (i.e according to question “…..when I was as old as you are…”). Now the B's age in the past will be 20(because age difference=3, which we got from the assumed values 26 and 23). Note that age difference will be constant. But twice of 20 is not 26, so value 26 is not valid answer.
Now put 28 as A's age then B's will be 21(because their total age = 49 given). So A’s age in the past will become 21(according to question “…..when I was as old as you are…”).B's age in the past would be 14(i.e 21–7)
That 7 is age difference of our assumed values 28 and 21.
Here twice of 14 is 28(i.e A's age) . So 14 is valid(according to the question “A said to B: I was twice as old as you were…)
so the ages of both will be 28 and 21.
