CSA and TSA of Cylinder

A right circular cylinder has 3 surfaces.

1 curved surface & 2 plane circular surfaces, which are called the bases of the cylinder.

Curved surface is the wall of the cylinder & plane surfaces are the ground & the roof, circular in shape ( circle shape) .

Area of this curved surface is called the CURVED SURFACE AREAof the cylinder.

This curved surface when flattened , it takes the shape of a rectangle.

So, its area= l * b =2π r * h

Area of plane surfaces in this case :-

r² + π= 2 pi r² .

If we add up this plane surface area to the curved surface.

We get theTOTAL SUURFACE AREA of the cylinder.

= 2pi r h + 2pi r²

= 2π r ( r + h)
