Lotic refers to flowing water, from the Latin lotus, meaning washed. ... Lotic ecosystems can be contrasted with lentic ecosystems, which involve relatively still terrestrial waters such as lakes, ponds, and wetlands. Together, these two ecosystems form the more general study area of freshwater or aquatic ecology.

Examples include: creeks, streams, runs, rivers, springs, brooks and channels. A Lentic Ecosystem has still waters.

Answer:

Lentic system is formed of stagnant freash water bodies eg, ponds and lakes in which water is not running but circulated by winds. It is with uniform distribution of oxygen, carbon dioxide and minerals. Lotic system is formed of moving fresh water bodies eg, streams and rivers. These have well oxygenated water but less mineral. It does not show thermal stratification.
