 \huge \star \:  \bf \underbrace {ANSWER} \: \star

Given :

→ The difference between 2 rational number is  \: - \frac{7}{8}

→ The greater number is  \: - \frac{2}{9}

To Find :

The smallest number

Solution :

Let the smallest number be x.

 - \frac{2}{9} - x = - \frac{7}{8}

 x = - \frac{2}{9} + \frac{7}{8}

 x = \frac {-16 + 63}{72}

 x = \frac {47}{72}

 \implies \textbf {Hence, the smallest number is} \: \bf {\frac{47}{72}}.

\bf\huge{\red{Answer←:}}

\bf{\red{:→}} Let y be the smallest number.

\bf{\red{:→}} - \bf\dfrac{2}{9} - y = - \bf\dfrac{7}{8}

\bf{\red{:→}} y = - \bf\dfrac{2}{9} + \bf\dfrac{7}{8}

\bf{\red{:→}} y = \bf\dfrac{-16 + 63}{72}.

\bf{\red{:→}} y = \bf\dfrac{47}{72}
