consider the amount to be rs.100

After a discount of 20% ,the bill amounts to 100-20/100x100=rs.80

Succeeding discount of 20% amounts to 80- 20/100 x 80 = rs.64

thus the total discount is 100 - 64 = rs.36

discount of 35% amounts to 100 - 35 =rs. 65

thus, the discount is rs.35

The difference between a discount of 35% and two successive discounts of 20% and 20% for Rs. 100 is 36 - 35 = Re.1

Thus, if the difference is RE. 1, the bill amount is Rs. 100.

So, for the difference 22, the bill amount is 100/1 x 22 = Rs. 2200.
